GROUP fighting in schools is a major concern, Lae Secondary school principal Christopher Raymond says.
He said Lae police had been assisting the school to deal with school fights.
“The administration of Lae Secondary would like to thank the Lae metropolitan command for its part in helping us deal with school fights.
“Dangerous weapons are now being used and brought into the school,” Raymond said.School board governing council chairman Stephen Mesa said a new wave or trend of student behaviour which depicted aggression, violence and total disregard for the general rule of law is developing in Lae schools.
“It is the Lae city school violence that is slowly becoming a norm, and is a big challenge.”
