FIJI aims to strengthen investment relations with the people of Bougainville by developing potential areas of complimentary trade.
This will start with a week-long visit to the Autonomous Region of Bougainville by Fiji Trade Commissioner Navitalai Tuivuniwai to conduct awareness sessions on this.
The visit from Aug 13-17 will include meetings with key stakeholders including provincial leaders, business community and local and district level representatives.
The commission will also conduct trade and investment awareness sessions in Buka and Arawa.
“There are enormous opportunities for developing long-term partnerships and investments between Fiji and Bougainville,” Tuivuniwai said. “We hope to build on these prospects as means of strengthening our people-to-people and business-to-business relations.
“Our focus in Bougainville will be to scout potential areas of collaboration in key sectors such as tourism, agriculture, manufacturing and other professional services.
“We would also like to see more engagements with the small and medium enterprises in the region.”
The commission office is in Port Moresby and exists to strengthen trade and investment between Fiji, PNG and Melanesian countries.
The investment awareness roadshow known as ‘Bula Wantok Investment Roadshow’ is an awareness and informational workshop initiative undertaken by the commission across PNG provinces.
It is targeted at corporate and business representatives, investors and budding entrepreneurs.
