Films, music to be part of tourism push
The National, Monday February 16th, 2015
THE Ministry for Tourism, Arts and Culture, with support from the Australian Government, will look into the Papua New Guinea film and music industries as part of tourism development.
Minister Boka Kondra said the film and music industries were yet to make a breakthrough on the international stage and there was a need for them to grow. “They should be integrated into the education system,” he said.
Kondra who was present for updates on the Australian Government’s support programme to the National Museum and Art Gallery, said he plans to revive the country’s commercial film industry. He said he believed both countries could cooperate in aspects of film and music industries to revitalise and move them to the next level as part of other areas of cooperation. “I will be receiving a petition from PNG musicians after their public forum over the weekend.”
