Finance firm aims to help grassroots

Business

A LOCALLY-OWNED finance company, Lionnard Finance, says its main focus is to help the “grassroots”.
General manager Dickson Moses said during the opening of its branch in Port Moresby recently, that assisting ordinary Papua New Guineans was one of their priorities.
“We provide loan services for personal, school fees, purchasing land, and others except for commercial loans,” he said.
“Our main motive is to help the grassroots,” he said.
“Once customers apply for a loan and we see that requirements are met, we proceed to approve it.”
Moses noted that they started operating as a company in 2017 but had not found a proper office space until last year.
“On Sept 3, 2019, we settled in our new office space in Lae (Morobe).
“We have recently opened our new branch in Port Moresby.”

  • Apart from this financial institution , there are others (Nationals) as well who are now operating Financial Institutions within and around the country. This is the sign of country coming to maturity. Previously before and after our independence, the Financial Institutions were dominated by Foreigners. Now it’s a new dawn for Papua New Guineans to rise up and make our presence felt in our economy. Though it is true that Papua New Guineans are already in business but we want to see is that PNGean should own and operate the 90% of the country economy. That is when the country will become really I dependent.
