The Office of Higher Education (OHE) concluded a three-day strategic planning workshop tasked to equip financial managers and bursars of higher learning institutions in the country last Wednesday.

East New Britain deputy provincial administrator Levi Mano commended OHE director David Kavanamur for acknowledging the strict measures taken by the province to procure development engagements from reputable contractors.

Mano encouraged the participants to institutionalise systems and processes for maximum benefits and to ensure accountability and transparency.

“The strategic planning workshop will further strengthen and broaden the mindset of governing bodies of institutions to manage their financial resources while addressing governance issues,” Mano said.

He challenged financial managers of the premier education institutions of the country to be intuitive in designing programmes that met the changing face of demand and resource availability in the country.

He said the demand for a proactive approach in designing programmes that were practically orientated should be in every planner’s mindset.

He said the boom in the economy and changing technology remained a challenge in their line of work.
