THE Finance Department has lost one of its senior personnel.
Christopher Kalebo, 37, of Milne Bay and Tolai parentage, died suddenly in the early hours of Tuesday in Madang.
The cause of death has not been established.
Mr Kalebo was deputy secretary (Strategy) for the Department of Finance and had been with the department since June 2005 when he joined as first assistant secretary for Non-Tax Revenue.
He was previously with the Department of Treasury for five years and had been acting secretary for close to four months while secretary Gabriel Yer was away overseas for medical reasons.
He was survived by wife Nancy and six children – Christable, Millikah, Ebony, Michaelyn Michlah, Kotarua and Junior Chris.
The body is to be flown to Port Moresby for funeral arrangements at a date to be decided on.
Finance and Treasury Minister Patrick Pruaitch, Mr Yer and staff at the department have expressed their shock at Mr Kalebo’s passing.
