THE financial inclusion exposition staged by Bank of PNG (BPNG) at Queens Park Oval in Mt Hagen, Western Highlands, during the weekend saw hundreds of locals visiting exhibition stalls to be informed about financial services, according to Nasfund.
Nasfund, along with its Savings and Loans Society facility (NCSL), had a successful turnout of public visiting its stall with a large number of people wanting to know more about the fund’s role in promoting a long term savings facility.
Nasfund’s branch officer Nathan Namiangu said his team registered 14 new members for the Eda Supa voluntary savings account while 213 kids savings accounts were opened with NCSL.
The team also took part in running training programmes organised by the committee of BPNG at the exhibition site.
BPNG Governor Loi Bakani said this year’s event saw more people turning up at the event with a record of 30,432 people comparing to 26,000 in Port Moresby.
Bakani said the aim of the event was to ensure public is exposed to information provided by the participating financial institutions.
He encouraged young people to be aware of the benefits of adapting a savings culture and challenged parents to be aware of the savings products that were offered by established institutions in their provinces.
Bakani said due to the demand shown by the public, the Bank Papua New Guinea would organise a similar event in the province before the end of the year.
