Finsch man committed to trial
The National – Friday, March 18, 2011
A FINSCHHAFEN man has been committed to the National Court to be tried on a charge of armed robbery.
Otto Kamus, 26, from Simbang village, in the Jabem council, was charged with robbing the Lutheran Shipping office at Maneba of K24,238 last September 26.
That morning, police said, Kamus and six others, armed with home-made guns and knives, held up a security guard between 2am and 4am and broke into the office.
Kamus was in Lae when arrested last November and was charged at Gagidu.
He appeared before magistrate Posain Poloh.
Meanwhile, Justice Ellenas Batari dismissed a national election case against returning officer Roy Kamen and the Electoral Commission.
Several candidates for the Lae Open seat in the last general elections wanted to sue Kamen and the EC for irregularities.
The case was dismissed for want of prosecution.
