ProPest Control’s two-year partnership with the Port Moresby Basketball Association has started this preseason, clearing the way for more accessible junior basketball development pathways in Port Moresby.
ProPest Control general manager and Port Moresby Basketball Association interim chairman John Bruce Vere confirmed the partnership during the launch of the preseason matches.
The engagement allows the association to programme the key piece of its logistics strategy going forward.
“Our focus and goal for establishing this association is to provide a platform for junior basketball,” Vere said.
“As we speak, there is no active association in Port Moresby to fill this yawning gap and we strongly believe that someone had to take ownership somewhere.
“So we have taken it upon ourselves as custodians of the game to rebuild the game with the formation of the association.”
With the proper season to be launched next year, the association has started its inaugural junior preseason competition for the Under-10, U12, U14, U16, U18 and U23 divisions.
The senior men and women’s matches are played on weekdays.
The competition is held at the Taurama Indoor and Aquatic Centre.
