RICE company Trukai Industries Ltd yesterday came on board to support the 2019 Morobe Agricultural Show with K67,500.
Trukai’s sponsorship of the annual show has gone on over the years as part of its community responsibility and helping to develop and support agriculture in PNG.
Trukai events manager Christine Miria said the show was an excellent platform for the agricultural industry, farmers and other stakeholders to work together to unlock and develop agricultural opportunities.
Miria said part of that sponsorship (K5,000) was for traditional dance groups.
“We are very proud of our sponsorship and also being a great partner to the Morobe Agricultural Show and are looking forward for a great show this year,” she said.
“Last year, we took out the overall grand champion winner award of the show and we want to maintain it for this year.”
Show society president Mike Quinn said the Morobe Agricultural Show, which will be held on Oct 12-13, was unique as it was the only agricultural show still functioning in the country.
“There are other shows held that are cultural shows, but Morobe show is not only cultural but has a very significant part which embraces agriculture, horticulture, commercial exhibits, health expos, general entertainment and agricultural exhibitions as well,” he said.
“Trukai are not only involved in commercial sales, they are a significant agricultural identity in PNG and their assistance for sponsorship is greatly appreciated.
“We’ve been friends and partners in the Morobe show for close to 25 years and whenever we require assistance Trukai has been more than ready to come to our help.
“They have a significant display at the show and they are vibrant part of the Morobe show.”
