A TOTAL of 500 students attending Lae International School will be able to take part in the 2019 Trukai Fun Run, thanks to the donation by a Lae-based firm.
Building and construction company Soltra Builders Ltd made the donation on Friday. The company paid for 500 T-shirts worth K5,000, during the Trukai Fun Run T-shirt auction held on March 6 in Lae.
Principal Dr Greg Morgan said it was a wonderful partnership between the school and the company.
“The Trukai Fun Run is a wonderful community initiative that the school is proud to support and be a part of,” he said.
“Learning (for students) involves more than just books. The Fun Run is a rare opportunity for our students to leave the classrooms and mix with the whole community in a spirit of collaboration and healthy activity. It is important for our students to learn that academic success requires students to be physically healthy and active too.”
Morgan said the Fun Run provided an additional means to convey these important messages to students.
The Lae International School was created early last year through the merging of the International School of Lae and Coronation College.
It has two campuses, one catering for elementary to grade eight, and the other grades nine to 12.
Morgan said its standards was equivalent to world standards.
