Firm eyes mining licence

A LANDOWNER company in Tabubil, Western, held its warden’s hearing for its exploration licence application last month.
Camp Administration Ltd executive chairman David Kaiankim said it was time Papua New Guineans took stock of its own natural resources and started its own exploration.
The company, which started as a cleaning contractor for Ok Tedi Mining Ltd, has grown since its establishment in 2005 as a contract miner with HBS under the Fubilan Joint Venture Centre Pit debris mining at Ok Tedi.
This is benchmark for a landowner company in the Ok Tedi project.
“The Government’s vision to take back PNG becomes fruitful when all levels of citizens play critical roles in designing our own destiny,” Kaiankim said.
He said the company entrusted its local geologists and engineers to take the lead in identifying resource targets within its tenement in order to develop its own mine.
Kaiankim said the company saw the need to expand into exploration and mining.
He said the company had clusters of alluvial mining licences along the Ok Tedi River issued by the Mineral Resources Authority.
Camp Administration Ltd, who is the applicant to the exploration licence 2671, intends to commence its two-year exploration programme once Mining Minister Jonson Tuke grant its licence.
