Firm gets award for social responsibility

 OIL Search has been awarded the RebecoSAM Industry Mover medal in recognition of its focus on social responsibility.

Executive general manager for Stakeholder Engagement Gerea Aopi said the company also achieved inclusion in the RobecoSAM’s 2016 Sustainability Yearbook and the FTSE4 Good Global Index. 

The index recognises companies worldwide which are demonstrating strong environment, social and governance practices.

“The RobecoSAM Industry Mover Medal indicates that Oil Search achieved the largest proportional improvement in sustainability performance compared to the previous year within the industry’s top 15 per cent,” he said. 

“This most recent win is a reflection of our continued efforts to improve the communication and reporting of what we do. 

“We continue to focus our attention on our vision to achieve excellence in social responsibility.” 

Aopi said the inclusion in RobecoSAM’s 2016 Sustainability Yearbook was first for the company. To be listed in the Yearbook, companies must be within the top 15 per cent of their industry and must achieve a score within 30 per cent of their industry leader’s score,” he said. 

“It is also Oil Search’s inaugural inclusion in the FTSE4Good Global Index.”

The company also supports its is Oil Search Foundation. The foundation is a development partner in Papua New Guinea delivering signature programmes and grant management solutions to support the national development agenda in the areas of health, leadership and education, and women’s protection and empowerment.
