KENNY Trans Taxi Service (KTTS) is making its free Mother’s Day rides an annual tribute to mums in the National Capital District (NCD).
KTTS managing director Wek Kewa said Sunday’s two-hour free taxi rides for mothers was the locally-owned taxi company’s maiden effort to recognise the contributions of mothers to communities and the country.
“It was a success and we now want this initiative to reward mothers as an annual event,” he said.
“There are many ways to celebrate Mother’s Day and it was only natural for us to free transport service for mothers on their day.
“We made two hours available free for our mothers in the city to take taxi rides to help them in their activities, whether going for shopping or anything to make their day.”
Kewa said women and girls faced a lot of harassment on the streets and we want to make it safe for them to travel around in the city.
“Our drivers were sent out to different parts of the city to pick up mothers looking for transport in the city. We sent taxis to Gerehu, Waigani, Gordon and other parts of Port Moresby.
Nancy Zuke, one of the mothers who used the free service, said: “I was happy with the free service and I wish to thank Kenny Taxi on behalf of all mothers.
