The National, Thursday July 9th, 2015
A SCANNING machine costing K250,000 has been installed at the Eastern Highlands provincial hospital.
Abraham Joseph, of Trade Link International Ltd who bought the machine, said it was latest model in the market.
Joseph said the scanning machine would be used for cardiology, obstetrics and gynaecology. It will be used for other imaging services, including studies of the foetus, heart, abdomen and other small parts of the body.
He said it was invented for ultra sound scanning and could produce colour and mono hard copy printouts. It provides soft copy of the scan results to clients.
Joseph said doctors and nurses of the provincial hospital were trained by staff of Trade Link International Ltd during the installation of the machine.
He said the technical team from his company would ensure that the necessary technical support, repair and maintenance would be provided.
Chief executive officer of the Eastern Highlands Provincial Health Authority Lillian Siwi said the hospital was to receive more medical equipment, including another anaesthetic machine for its three operating theatres.
She thanked the Department of Health for delivering the equipment.
