Firm offering free self-defence class for women

ONE of the country’s largest security company is offering free self-defence training for women and girls as part of its community initiative to help address violence against women and children.
G4S Secure Solutions (PNG) Ltd managing director Kerry McNamara said they were proud to support the important community initiative by offering free self-defence classes for women and girls in Port Moresby.
He made the statement during a Family and Sexual Violence Forum held in Port Moresby yesterday.
“Training is every Saturday from 9am to 11am at the Konedobu G4S Haus and open to all women and girls,” McNamara said.
“G4S is also providing support to the Meri Seif project in Port Moresby.
“You can call us on 7222 1234, 24 hours a day, if you feel threatened.”
Representatives from the Consultative Implementation Monitoring Council and Family and Sexual Violence Action Committee, Bel Isi PNG, Femili PNG, G4S, Start Awareness Support Action, Office of the Public Prosecutors, National Capital District Commission FSVAC, Business Coalition for Women, Family Support Centre, and Child Fund Call Centre all met yesterday to help promote their services in helping to address gender and sexual violence in the country.
G4S is one of the oldest security companies that operates worldwide and was first established in Denmark in 1901.
