HARMONY, the operator of the Hidden Valley mine, has opened a community affairs office in the Bulolo administration office.
Manager, social performance and communities, Geoffrey Fahey said this would make it easier for landowners and the people to discuss matters relating to the mine.
“We’re very focused on being in touch with our communities, especially the mine villages which were Nauti, Kuembu and Winima,” he said.
“It’s important to us that they are engaged and properly informed on the mine’s operations, and for us to be abreast of issues they have.”
Fahey said Harmony had planned to open the office earlier in the year, but due to the state of emergency brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, it had to be delayed.
“The Bulolo office is even more important now with the Covid-19 pandemic so that we can engage in social distancing and village health and hygiene protocols,” he said.
