MAYUR Resources Ltd says an ongoing liaison with the State negotiating team has been established to negotiate and finalise power purchase agreement (PPA) for its proposed power project in Lae, Morobe.
Managing director Paul Mulder told The National that the company was waiting for the State negotiating team’s composition to be finalised and signed off.
He said once that happen, the final discussion and negotiation of the Enviro Energy Park (EEP) project would begin.
Mayur’s proposed 52.5 megawatt EEP project concerns integrated power station utilising a mix of traditional thermal energy domestically (sourced from the company’s wholly-owned Depot Creek project), solar, biomass woodchip, that would generate more reliable and far cheaper electricity than existing alternatives while providing a co-generated steam to adjacent industrial users who were burning diesel for their steam needs.
Located adjacent to Lae, the EEP would also provide steam by-product for nearby industrial users, and the future dual fuel systems would also enable the utilisation of gas.
“The energy park would balance the need for new environmentally friendly technologies and reliable energy,” Mulder said.
