Firm suspends mine activities at Ridgeway

 GOLD production at Newcrest’s Cadia Ridgeway mine has been suspended, the company says.

Newcrest said that followed a mine technician who was fatally injured on Sunday evening at its operation in New South Wales, Australia.

“Newcrest is liaising with the NSW Police and NSW Mine Safety Inspectorate and assisting both agencies with their enquiries,” a company statement said.

“The circumstances of the fatality are under investigation and no further details are available at this time.

“We extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to family, friends and work colleagues with support being provided at this very difficult time.”
