AS part of the preparation for the 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby, the PNG Hockey Federation (PNGHF) has engaged Team Sports Company to oversee the construction of a hockey oval in Port Moresby.
PNGHF president Kaluwin Potuan said he was happy to host Brett Davison from Team Sports Company, the leading supplier of hockey fields in Australia who visited the proposed venue at Sir John Guise stadium property.
“We had the opportunity for Davison to come up and see the ground for the hockey pitches plus our proposed plan with other associated facilities in preparation for the Pacific Games in five years time,” he said.
The product of Team Sports Company is the FIH approved synthetic hockey’ Aquature Evolution (12mm) which is the latest synthetic hockey surface product developed by the company to achieve a class one pitch.
Davison was impressed with the ground set-up and drainage but advised PNGHF to engage a specialist to assess the soil structure of the proposed venue.
Davison said his company was committed to providing an innovative product that would ensure the long-term success for hockey customers and had the surfaces to suit the requirements for hockey varying from multi-sporting surfaces with or without shock absorbance pad to full FIH hockey field speicifications.
Potuan said after a full briefing, a report would be compiled and submitted to the chairman of the facilities for the 2015 Pacific Games for deliberation.
He added it would also include sourcing overseas counter funding.
