THE Filipino Association of Papua New Guinea (FAPNG) and a medical company are backing sports competitions at Gordon’s FAPNG Indoor Complex in Port Moresby.
The competitions being held at the complex are basketball, volleyball and badminton.
The winners of each sport will claim the 2K Cup. This is a FAPNG initiative for Filipinos and Filipinas to keep fit and healthy during the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
FAPNG chairman Jonathan Plasabes said the basketball competition started on July 4, badminton July 18 and volleyball tips off next month.
Basketball and volleyball is only played by Philippine people while badminton is open to persons of other nationalities.
“The three categories in the basketball competition, comprising young and old, are aimed at establishing camaraderie,” Plasabes said.
He said all competitions and activities at the venue were following strict Covid-19 protocols.
“We apply Covid-19 protocols at the venue with security checks,” Plasabes said.
He said they planned to complete the competitions in early October.
