THE developer of the Lae tidal basin project has given 600 school bags and stationery kits to Milfordhaven Primary School students.
China Harbour Engineering Company project manager Jianhua Ma and Independent Public Business Corporation managing director Wasantha Kumarasiri presented the items to the school and urged the 570 students to embrace education.
Kumarasiri reflected on his humble upbringing and education in a rural school in Sri Lanka and challenged the students to be respectful, follow good principles and do what is right,” he said.
“From me the message is your education is the key. Everyone has the opportunity to make it. Teachers teach you and give you values, respect each other and everyone.”
Ma said: “We believe in education as the key to success and we at China Harbour Engineering Company wish you students and teachers all the best in your studies.”
Deputy provincial administrator for Morobe, Sheila Harou made a personal donation of two sets of encyclopedia for the school library.
The students, most of whom live in the Papuan compound and the market area,  were delighted.
