BUSINESS houses in Rabaul town have thrown their support behind their MP Dr Allan Marat in questioning why he still has not received his district funding from the Government.

They said the delay in district funding from the Government made the grassroots suffer more.

Business houses revealed they were being approached for donations or fundraising events by a few schools in the district wanting to raise money because they had not received their subsidies either.

Malaguna Elementary and St Martin’s Primary schools have approached business houses to support them in fundraising activities so that can buy  supplies.

Business houses have called for common sense to prevail in Government so Marat can receive vital district funding to implement projects.

Marat is among MPs in Opposition who cannot implement projects in their districts as their funding has been held back by the Government.

During the Rabaul joint district planning and budget priorities committee meeting last week, an outraged Marat criticised the delay in the release of his electorate’s district services improvement programme and support grants from the government.

He labelled that treatment by the Government as discriminatory.
