THE Papua New Guinea Table Tennis Federation was presented K120,000 by six Chinese business houses in Port Moresby on Friday.
Federation president George Shao, his deputy Rea Loi and manager Michael Ligo received the sponsorship from the business houses.
Shao said XYZ Construction (PNG) Ltd presented K30,000, 9-Mile Plaza K10,000, and Leong Enterprises Ltd, Fujian Enterprise Association Inc, China Harbour Engineering Company and Yuan Fang Architecture gave K20,000 each.
He said the sponsorship had given more confidence to the federation to grow the sport.
“These huge contributions from the Chinese business houses here in Port Moresby are supporting the federation to achieve its goals for the players’ benefit,” Shao said.
“They are our loyal partners and they continue to come on board without hesitating.
“It is evident that they have the heart for grassroots and youth development in table tennis.”
Shao said the continued support from the Chinese business houses had helped PNG No.1 men’s player Geoffrey Loi and others to further develop their game.
