EDAI Town’s first homeowner Dickson Popo has praised the estate near Boera village as a model satellite township.

The establishment of the township is part of a Government initiative to allow workers to own their first homes.

It is being facilitated by the Bank of South Pacific through a home ownership scheme loan arrangement.

He said the township, built on about 155 hectares of land, was situated 20kms outside the city and was peaceful and uncongested.

“When you look at other housing projects here in Port Moresby, they are not like what is offered here at Edai Town,” Popo said.

“There are a variety of houses that you can choose from depending on what you and your family like.

“We’ve been to other places in the city in search of a home but they were all so small and so crowded. Most Papua New Guineans want to have family get-together so you need a larger space to do that.

“When we came to Edai Town, the properties came in different varieties with the largest being over 650 square metres. It suited me and my family very well.”
