Fishing firms, employee fund school building
The National, Thursday July 2nd, 2015
AN employee of Frabelle PNG Ltd and two fishing companies have built a double classroom for an elementary school.
Missian Gware of Frabelle PNG Ltd, Majestic Sea Foods and Nambawan Sea Foods have together funded the classrooms for Poasang Elementary School.
Frabelle general manager James Johnston told the parents that it was just the beginning of many other services to come to them.
The building comprises two classrooms, a teacher’s office and a water tank provided by Spectre Ltd.
Two more classrooms will be built next year.
“Significantly, the classrooms are in return for the labour provided by workers living in Busu settlement to the companies,” Johnston said.
Accompanying Johnston were Nambawan Seafood general manager Paul Lin and Majestic Seafoods general manager Wayne Adams.
Gware said in the past 13 years the children were using semi-permanent buildings which catered for almost 300 children.
Gware pledge K1000 to the school and K500 respectively to a gospel youth group and those provided labour to build the classrooms.
