Five make PITA team

FIVE players from The National newspaper’s made the Port Moresby Industry Touch Association training squad.
The National team manageress Ellen Tiamu said the selected players were experienced touch player Lina Keapu and new comers Glenys Ngarakian, Wari Gou, Evonne Nohoro and Mari Keapu.
Tiamu said the selection of Keapu, Ngarakian and Gou brings confidence in the team as first timers in the town competition.
These five have set their sights on representing PITA in the National Touch Championships from April 18-24 in Port Moresby.
The five have diligently attended squad training every Tuesday and Thursday at 5pm at the Coronation Primary School oval and are hopeful of making the final cut.
Keapu said she expected  PITA selectors pick a team balanced with experience, youth and a good mixture for future representation.
She said out from the 26 players, only 12 would be represent PITA at the national championships.
“This will also be a good season for The National to compete against TNT Air Cargo, Mazda BT 50, AON Hewitt and Niugini Paper Corporation for the open women’s and mix division,” Keapu said. The PITA competition allows family members to participate in the open mix and women’s divisions making the sport the best family recreational activity.
