BID teams attending the 5th PNG Games in Kokopo have their hopes set on hosting the 2014 PNG Games.
Teams that have publicly announced their intentions are Western, Madang, Morobe, Eastern Highlands and the National Capital District.
They will formally lodge their bids paying the K10,000 fee.
Western and NCD politicians will be present to push their bid during the PNG Sports Council meeting.
Deputy Speaker and South Fly MP Aide Ganasi and Governor Ati Wobiro are expected to attend the meeting.
The nation’s capital has the inside running with the 2015 Pacific Games a big plus for the city apart from its capacity to run the event.
Team NCD has Governor Powes Parkop, Vice-Minister for Sports Labi Amaiu, deputy city manager Honk Kiap and Diane Paliau in their bid team.
Parkop has the backing of Sports Minister Justin Tkatchenko, Amaiu and Health and HIV/Aids Minister and Moresby Northwest MP Michael Malabag.
Kiap said Team NCD would test the facilities at the Sir John Guise Stadium if they won the bid.
He said NCDC was prepared to spend more than K3 million to host the games in the capital.
