Five women learn to drive ‘heavy metal’

 FIVE female are among 108 students in the Transgogol local level government, in Madang, who can now operate road works heavy machinery.

The JM Operators and Driving Skills Training School recently celebrated the graduation of its pioneer students at Barum village.

The students, mostly from Madang district, Raicoast and Bogia and a few from Morobe, had eight weeks of training comprising two weeks of theory and six weeks practical.

School principal and director Jacob Makimbi said students were taught how to operate excavators, bulldozers, graders and dump trucks.

Makimbi said they were waiting to have traffic officers assess them.
