Fix Bailey Bridge

Letters

THE temporary Bailey Bridge laid across a creek next to the University of Goroka in Eastern Highlands, towards Chimbu is becoming a living hell for drivers along this section of the road.
A passenger truck recently fell off as a result of an accident on the bridge.
This truck took the construction access road to cross over to the other side but the engine went off.
Luckily everyone on the truck were safe.
Another accident occurred a few months back when a businessman’s car and a PMV bus collided head on without casualties.
The accident resulted in thousands of kina spent to fix the damage caused.
There were other accidents with minor damages.
This section is a hot spot for thieves and pickpockets.
Before something very bad happens, the Works Department should remove this bridge and replace it with a permanent one.
The Works Department has been procrastinating and ignoring their responsibility.
