Fix issues in your district first Mr MP

YOU cannot talk about other people’s issues or problems unless you deal with yours first.
This is in response to Samarai-Murua MP Henry Isi Leonard, who raised series of questions on Wednesday during the Parliament session regarding the Bougainville Referendum.
It seems the MP is not getting his priorities right.
How can he be addressing the issues of another district when his own district is piled up with issues?
I’m sure it is an insult to the leaders responsible to undertake such a huge task in ensuring a safe referendum.
The people from his district are putting their hopes on him to address the district’s issues to parliament such as;

  • The environmental concerns on the current exploration activity on Misima Island by Kingston Resource Ltd (KSN);
  • outstanding landowner royalty and compensations which the government promised to compensate the people of Misima Island;
  • Misima General Hospital, which serves the entire district, needs serviced facilities and specialists;
  • the district has no banking facilities;
  • Misima Secondary school is in need of new facilities and staff; and,
  • Roads in Misima are wearing out and needs maintenance.

All these issues have been raised by the people to the member, yet he is not doing noting as the mandated leader.
This is not a personal attack. Whose interests are you serving?
