SOUTHERN Flames continued their winning start with a 43-24 victory over Birdwings in the National Capital District Amateur Basketball Association A grade at the Hohola Court on Saturday.
With Moses Lune, Henry Natto, and the Muri connections of Purari, Obert and Cornelius, the competition leaders were too strong and smart for their opponents in the second half despite trailing 10-9 at the interval.
Birdwings, led by Dodong Elavo, Francis Dobunaba and Ipai Willie, were confronted with solid defence from their opponents.
In the other men’s match, Tamaraws smashed Elegant Spiders 54- 38.
In the women’s division, Elegant Spiders — led by Suzie Paisoi, Ethel Narua and international Cindy Elavo — stopped Tamaraws 30-22.
Tamaraws were leading 17-11 but the Spiders returned in the final period to bag 19 points and restrict their opponents to just five.
Paisoi shot double three-pointers and provided a number of assists.
In the other women’s match, Southern Flames beat Birdwings 22-17.
