Flies edge out Storms to claim Moresby Super 9s Cup

HOHOLA Flies (2) scraped through with a lone try to win the Port Moresby Rugby Football League (POMRFL) MRDC Super 9s Cup at Ipi Park yesterday.

The Flies playing before their home crowd denied Kone Storms Blue with a converted try to Franky Tole to win 6-0 and claim the winners cash prize of K4000 as well.

The Hohola outfit were served well with PNG Sevens squad member Terence Uvau, skipper Roland Andane, Kambi Gigiman, Gary Sarea and Bruce Pani for their efforts over the five day tournament.

The Konedobu team under former Port Moresby Vipers full back Wilson Mavoko collected K2000 for their efforts.

In a good outing for the Flies, their Team One also bagged the Plate final with a two-try effort to Junior Arova and Kay Reuben to beat Royals White 8-0, to add a further K1,700 to their haul.

Royals White collected K1000.

In the Bowl, rugby union female representative player Cathy Neap coached Paga Panthers to beat Defence Green 22-6 and claim K500 for their efforts.

Panthers stylish ball-runner Farisa Richard scored four tries for the win in an all-round effort.
