Flower sellers find buyers in the nation’s capital
A WOMEN’S group at 4-Mile outside Lae are ecstatic that they have finally found clients interested in buying their flowers.
They did not disclose their clients but said it was a company based in Port Moresby and their first lot of 160 bundles of cut flowers was shipped off on the early bird flight from Lae to Port Moresby yesterday.
The Turangu lukautim turangu was formed eight years ago as a self-help group grew over the years as it allowed more underprivileged women, especially widows to support them and their families.
During those years unsuccessful attempts at securing a market left them dejected until recently.
With the National Capital District nearly always dry, the never-ending wet season in Lae and Morobe would unquestionably ensure their bounty of flowers would never run dry.
The group has also branched out into poultry, piggery and crop farming.
