POLICE in Daru, Kiunga and Tabubil in Western have been given new vehicles and computers – courtesy of the provincial government and local parliamentarians.
Southern divisional command Assistant Commissioner of Police Jerry Frank said three new Toyota LandCruiser troop carriers were presented to the three stations to help fight crime.
Frank said Western Governor Dr Bob Danaya, Tabubil local level government, South Fly MP Sali Subam and North Fly MP Boka Kondra donated funds to buy the vehicles as part of their commitment towards the upkeep of
law and order in the province.
Frank did not say how much had been spent on buying the vehicles.
He said, in addition, two desktop computers with accessories were bought by Kondra for the Ningrum police station, in Kiunga.
“The vehicles and computers would assist officers fight the upsurge of public disorder from the use of illicit drugs and homebrew,” he said.
