Flyable fuel tanks to be used in relief efforts
The National, Thursday 02nd Febuary 2012
EXXONMobil has recruited Canadian company SEI Industries, who developed the distinctive orange Bambi Bucket that can be slung underneath fire-fighting helicopters, to aid workers at its liquefied natural gas project site after a massive landslide hit the region last week.
This time, it is a lightweight portable fuel container called “Fuel-Easy” that SEI is sending.
Like the Bambi Bucket, it can be slung underneath a helicopter. The fuel is needed to maintain basic needs and living accommodations for workers at the US$15.7 billion (K31.4 billion) LNG project, SEI said in a news release.
The workers camp, 7km from the slide area, houses 4,500.
SEI Industries is working around the clock to produce Fuel-Easy bags for the relief project.
It is expected to take 35 days to re-open the road covered by the slide.
