THE current trend by minor groups within the nursing fraternity and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Papua New Guinea (ELCPNG) to request funds from the National Government is causing an eyesore – every time it’s published in the dailies.
In normal circumstances, one would understand that minor groups within an organisation would normally submit a budget proposal to a higher authority within the organisation.
In the case for ELCPNG, a parish council would submit to the circuit, circuit to the district and district to the national office.
Likewise the request made by Peri operative nursing as published in both dailies on Friday (Nov 22) is a small component of the surgical nursing arena, who are a small part of the Nursing category of health care workers.
All nursing categories whether in psychiatry, child health, midwifery or acute care comes under the nurses association who should submit to the Health Department.
It is up to the national offices to seek funding or not for a specific parish or a specialty group.
Otherwise the National Government would not be serving its purpose by entertaining pronged budget support for every village, every group and every individual.
