We have food to boast, says B’ville caterer

JUST like the Chinese and Indians, Papua New Guineans have so much to offer on their plate, says a caterer.
Margaret Luku, from Bougainville, says she would be serving the Prime Minister’s Department at the Sir Manasupe Haus in Port Moresby with Bougainville’s renowned tamatama dish among others.
Luku operates a small catering business from home. It is registered under the Investment Promotion Authority as Agetai Real Foods. “I am excited because I have started receiving orders from the government departments,” she said.
She was among more than 20 businesswomen from the Southern region who showcased their products during the Department for Community Development and Religion workshop and expo last week.
Luku displayed her tamatama – a traditional Bougainvillean food prepared with mashed taro and cooked banana or cassava coated with coconut milk or oil.
Luku said visitors to PNG wanted to taste PNG food.
The expo last week was to help identify women entrepreneurs to showcase their products during in the Apec Policy Partnership on Women Entrepreneurs Forum in May and also at the November summit.
