Staff from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade presented a cheque for K1,645 to the Cheshire Home of PNG yesterday at the Somare Foundation building in Waigani.
The deputy secretary (operations) for the department, Alexis Maino, presented the cheque and said the cheque represented funds raised by the
department staff through raffle tickets during
the department’s Christmas party last year.
However, due to various inconveniences, the department could not make the presentation earlier.
Maino said that although, the amount was small, it was a worthy voluntary effort by the department staff to support and contribute to the good work of the Cheshire Home in caring for the physically challenged individuals in our community.
He added that the work of organisations like Cheshire Home deserved proper recognition and support from the government and corporate bodies.
Maino praised the Cheshire Home for its selfless efforts and encouraged it to continue to reach out to those in need of our community’s love and care.
General manager of the Cheshire Home Bernard Ayieko received the bank cheque from Maino at the department’s office witnessed by representatives from Cheshire Home and the department staff.
