Foreign interest

Letters

I WAS reading your newspaper last week and again this week and found some articles needed commenting about its relevance to the greater majority of Papua New Guineans.
For example, the United Nations office PNG calls to have all restrictions on HIV infected foreign citizens removed from PNG Migration Entry Restrictions List.
Is the UN office making such an irresponsible and reckless statement to have this HIV AIDS health restriction removed from PNG’s entry process?
HIV AIDS is not a preventable or curable disease, it has no borders and will infect and kill anyone it comes into contact with.
Papua New Guineans must not listen to such foreign organisations that care about the lives, wellbeing and security of our people. Again, in yesterday’s The National, a foreign embassy is calling for PNG to make their country’s language and culture as part of PNG’s education curriculum.
Firstly, what do have in common with this foreign embassy’s country that we should have their language and culture taught in our schools.
Such foreign languages and cultures should only be listed as voluntary subjects and should not be taught as a compulsory such in our schools. We, Papua New Guineans, must be very careful and take heed of such suggestions as these foreign embassies and organisations, do not work for PNG’s national interests but they are here to drive their own foreign government’s interest here.
