Foreign woman flees after deportation threat
The National, Tuesday 21st Febuary 2012
A FOREIGNER working at a popular health centre in Port Moresby quickly left the country last week after being threatened by a group of people led by a senior minister.
The Malaysian woman flew out on Feb 12, a day after she was threatened with deportation if she refused to serve the men.
She and her colleagues were closing down for the day when the group of more than 10 men turned up at about 10.30pm.
Members of the group had booked for a massage at 9pm.
The woman advised the men that as they closed at 11pm, there was not enough time to perform the massage.
The men insisted but when the woman stood firm, she was threatened with deportation.
The next day, some men demanded to see the woman but were told that she had left the country.
They refused to leave but when shown a copy of the air ticket, rushed to the airport in an apparent attempt to detain her.
The health centre has been in operation for several years and is popular among both expatriates and nationals.
