A FOMER school teacher from Hela has been jailed for three years for fraudulently obtaining K11,000 using another teacher’s personal details in 2013.
Max Ibura, 33, from Peliya village in Koroba, Hela, was convicted of obtaining K11,100 from two financial companies between 2013 and 2014.
Ibura had been sharing a house with another teacher, Paul Melepenge, at Benaria Primary
School in Hela. He then left for Port Moresby.
He obtained different loans on different days totaling K11,100 using Melepenge’s personal details.
The court heard that Ibura created an account with Bank of South Pacific under Melepenge’s name and the loan he applied
for from the companies were deposited directly into that account.
Melepenge became suspicious when he noticed a lot of deductions made from his salary.
He came down to Port Moresby to enquire.
Melepenge lodged a complaint with police when he found out what Ibura did.
