THE Ramu Development Foundation will work with the Ramu NiCo Management (MCC) Ltd to ensure Ramu project impacted landowners benefit from sustainable projects.

Project coordinator Andrew Hawek said the foundation had a good relationship with the provincial administration and would work closely with the company on any impact and sustainable projects as required under the project’s memorandum of agreement.

Hawek attended the graduation of 38 poultry farmers at Uria village in Ward 19 area of the Usino local level government.

They attended a week-long poultry project workshop recently.

Local farmers learnt poultry production, investment sustainability and farm enterprises management.

“The Foundation has close relationship with the provincial administrator Daniel Aloi and Governor Jim Kas,” he said.

“We will work closely with Ramu NiCo and every stakeholder on every activity that is sustainable so our impacted landowners can benefit from.”

The Madang provincial government established the foundation last February under the Ramu NiCo agreement.

It will be responsible for the implementation of socio-economic and infrastructure projects by managing funds from tax credit schemes, special support grants, derivation grants, levies in the province and those required under the agreement.
