A MT Hagen-based non-governmental organisation continues to help rural farmers with basic knowledge and financial assistance to improve their entrepreneurial skills.

The Foundation for Rural Development (FORD) Inc, conducted a two-week training that ended last Friday for organisational development, start your own business (SYOB) and financial education for 17 aspiring entrepreneurs.

FORD executive director Andrias Pu’u said the training was a prerequisite for people that were eligible to receive K3,000 soft-revolving funds as start-up capital under FORD’s small enterprise development scheme (SEDS) concept.

The training and the certificate presentation and K30,000 seed capital disbursement were held at Hotel Banz last weekend.

Ten participamts received the funding assistance while seven would receive theirs shortly.

FORD and ICCO, a Dutch organisation for development co-operation in the Netherlands, were giving out the  seed capital to assist farmers.
