High Performance Sport Papua New Guinea is grateful for four boxes of school kits from the Cancer Foundation PNG.
The kits were donated to HPS PNG’s talent pathway department for distribution to their sports students under the Emerging Talent Scholarships programme.
Foundation executive manager Priscillar Napoleon said they were happy to partner organisations that ran school programmes for children, and whose initiatives were in line with the foundation’s activities.
“(The talent programme) fits perfectly because of our values about empowering children through education awareness,” she said.
“This is our third year of involvement with (HPS PNG) and since the inception of the programme became one of our major initiatives, we have put all our efforts into it.
“So when we have collaborations like this, especially from High Performance Sport PNG, we give them all the merchandise that they need to keep up with their programme.”
HPS PNG talent pathway coordinator Ian Kagaiavi thanked the foundation for their ongoing support, adding that the kits meant a lot to the students, some of whom had already experienced the effects of cancer in their families. “A small gift like a school kit makes a big difference in their heart,” Kagaiavi said.
The foundation and its partners will run programmes this year to spread awareness and information on cancer detection and prevention methods among the public.
