RH Foundation, the charity arm of Rimbunan Hijau (PNG) group of companies delivered 20 beds, 68 cabinets and curtains to the paediatric ward, at the Port Moresby General Hospital on Saturday.
Valued at K52,000, the delivery will replace the existing ones which have been in use since the establishment of PMGH, according to sister-in-charge Cecilia Minjihau.
A grateful Minjihau lauded the positive response from the foundation, saying she had requested for newer products last year.
She was especially thankful for the beds which are of the right size.
The former beds were for adults and were too high for the children.
“Sometimes they would fall off the beds while asleep and hurt themselves,” she said.
Acting chief paediatrician Dr James Amini also welcomed the gifts and commended RH Foundation.
He added that the wards welcomed any form a contribution that comes in to assist staff in carrying out their respective duties, which helps keep the patients comfortable.
RH Foundation representatives said the official presentation would be done after the delivery of all the items.
