THE Digicel Foundation launched its annual community grants programme with a K1 million funding on Thursday, its chief executive officer Serena Sasingian says.
“The programme supports local organisations with community grants of up to K50,000 to deliver projects that provide local solutions to local problems in line with the foundation’s development outcomes,” she said.
“The focus areas are in health, education, social inclusion, sustainable livelihood and community safety.”
Sasingian said she was impressed with the impact the programme had had on communities since its launch in 2019.
“From the overwhelming number of applications we receive every year, we know there is a real need to support local community organisations to address local problems,” she said.
“We will continue with this programme, working together with our partner organisations to address some of the most pressing needs for rural and remote areas in the country.”
Applications for grants are open for three months and will close on Oct 10.
The foundation will then conduct its selection and assessment process.
