TUBUSEREIA Primary School in Central and Busu Secondary School in Morobe have signed an agreement with Digicel Foundation to implement a “new whole school sustainability programme”.
The programme is the foundation’s initiative to incorporate principles of sustainability into the work it does with schools.
The foundation works through the framework with the school board of management to strengthen their learning improvement plan and assist their built environment through school infrastructure.
An agreement was signed recently with both schools to build an eight-in-one classroom complex.
The classrooms will come with solar lighting, water tanks, ablution blocks, sports courts and a bore water system.
Tubusereia Primary School board chairman Manu Momo acknowledged Digicel Foundation for its support.
Busu Secondary School headmaster George Noble said he was grateful for the support.
“We are a top-performing school (but) we struggle with the dilapidated school infrastructure,” he said.
Construction of the K2 million classrooms will begin this month at both schools.
