GOILALA Foundation president Thomas Eme looks forward to working with new Goilala MP Daniel Mona in developing the district.
He said Mona’s success must be attributed to the people of Goilala even though only 3,000-plus of the 15,000 people voted for him.
Eme said the foundation hoped to work with Mona to ensure much needed services and development, that had been lacking for many years, reached the Goilala people.
He said the people of Goilala respected Mona’s father, Louis Mona, who was the first Goilala MP.
He served them in the 1970s and 1980s and brought services to the people, including building the Port Moresby-Tapini Highway and Tapini High School.
“We would like to see his son Daniel being committed to working closely with the people of Goilala as his father did,” he said.
“He must follow his father’s footsteps and bring vital services to Goilala.”
Eme paid tribute to outgoing Central Governor Alphonse Moroi, describing him as an “impeccable, honest and committed leader and a true son of Goilala” who had done his best for his people.
Moroi pursued the
reconstruction of the Tapini Highway and initiated other major projects that benefited the people of Goilala and Central.
The Goilala Foundation was established last November and launched by Moroi and National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop to promote the Goilala district and people through its website (www.goilala.com) and develop the potential of the district.
