Foundation sustains support with K95,000

Cheshire Homes will continue to get assistance for another year from the PNG Digicel Foundation to support its programmes.
This follows the signing of a partnership agreement between the PNG Digicel Foundation and Cheshire Disability Services on Wednesday in Port Moresby.
Cheshire general manager Benard Aiyeko said
Digicel was a long term development partner for Cheshire.
Benard said development partners usually don’t partner with organisations dealing with persons living with disability and thanked Digicel for their continuous support.
He said sometimes development partners believed in numbers and big returns for contributions they make.
“Not many people are willing to support disability programmes,” he said.
“We are very fortunate that Digicel Foundation has stepped in with us for all these years because they have seen the benefit.
“In disability it’s on the reverse side because of the time it takes to prepare a child from a very severe to a moderate disability status, to a level where the child can actually go to school and can take a very frustrating time.”
Digicel Foundation chief executive officer Serena Sasingian said their focus was in the community rehabilitation programme in which people living with disability was a priority.
“The foundation is committed in supporting Cheshire Home because we have seen the impact it had on the lives of people living with disability.”
She said Digicel Foundation provided an assistance of K95,000 annually to Cheshire Home and the agreement signing was part of their annual commitment.
